Viñales Valley is an ideal place to contemplate and admire the beauty of the Cuban landscape. It is located in a small rural town in the province of Pinar del Río, only 25 km from the provincial capital and 178 km from Havana. It creates a privileged and unique landscape where heights of metamorphic rocks combine with karst mountains and valleys of incomparable beauty, known locally as mogotes. It is also known for having the world’s best tobacco fields and Cuba’s largest cave system.
It takes about two and a half hours from Havana to reach the Viñales Valley, 80 per cent of which is given over to tobacco and provides the leaves for the best Cuban cigars. With your guide you visit a private farmer’s house where the leaves are grown and see how a cigar is rolled. You also visit the Mural de la Prehistoria and take a boat through the underground waters of the Cueva del Indio. A typical Cuban lunch is served on site.
