Discover one of Cuba’s most spectacular natural landscapes on a full-day journey from Havana to Pinar del Río and the Viñales Valley.
Surrounded by dramatic limestone formations known locally as mogotes, traditional tobacco farms and lush countryside, Viñales offers a completely different side of Cuba. During the experience, you will discover the traditions behind Cuban tobacco, admire panoramic views over the valley, explore an underground cave by boat and enjoy a traditional Cuban lunch in the heart of the countryside.
The journey begins in Havana and heads west towards the province of Pinar del Río, home to some of Cuba’s most celebrated natural scenery and tobacco-growing traditions. After leaving the city behind, the landscape gradually changes into fertile countryside, mountains and the characteristic limestone formations that have made Viñales internationally famous.

1Departure from HavanaHavanaThe experience begins at 09:00 with scheduled pick-up from selected hotels or designated meeting points in Havana. Guests travel towards western Cuba and the province of Pinar del Río, enjoying changing landscapes along the way as Havana gives way to rural communities, farmland and mountain scenery.
2La Casa del VegueroViñales, Pinar del RíoOne of the highlights of the day is a visit to a traditional tobacco-growing area. At La Casa del Veguero, guests are introduced to an important part of Cuba’s agricultural heritage: they see the surrounding tobacco plantations, learn how tobacco is cultivated, harvested, dried and prepared, and hear a local explanation of the traditional process used by generations of Cuban farmers. Guests also watch a Cuban cigar being rolled by hand, and a welcome cocktail is included. This stop offers a much more personal perspective on one of Cuba’s most recognisable traditions.
3Los Jazmines viewpointViñalesThe journey continues to one of the most famous panoramic viewpoints in the Viñales Valley. From Los Jazmines, guests can admire the enormous green valley surrounded by its characteristic mogotes, where tobacco fields, rural houses and farmland meet the limestone mountains that define the Viñales landscape. It is one of the best opportunities of the day for panoramic photography, with time to enjoy the scenery before continuing the journey.
4Viñales ValleyViñalesThe heart of the experience is the Viñales Valley, one of Cuba’s most distinctive rural landscapes. Here, traditional farming techniques continue to form an important part of everyday life, and dramatic limestone formations rise from fertile agricultural land. Throughout the visit, the guide provides information about the geography, agriculture, traditions and rural lifestyle of the region. It is a striking contrast to Havana, and a chance to discover Cuba beyond its cities and beaches.
5Cueva del IndioViñalesThe programme continues with a visit to the famous Cueva del Indio. Guests enter this impressive natural cave system and explore its rock formations, then board a small boat that travels along the underground river running through part of the cave. The underground passages, the rock formations and the boat journey make it one of the most distinctive natural attractions in the Viñales area. Entrance to the cave and the boat ride are included, and comfortable footwear is recommended.
6Traditional Cuban lunchViñalesGuests enjoy a traditional Cuban lunch at a local restaurant in the Viñales area, a chance to discover traditional Cuban flavours in the rural setting. Typical dishes may include Cuban-style meat or chicken, rice, beans, vegetables, salad and traditional side dishes. The menu may vary according to local availability and daily operations. 7Mural de la PrehistoriaViñalesAnother important stop is the Mural de la Prehistoria, one of the most recognisable landmarks in the Viñales Valley. The enormous mural is painted directly onto the face of a limestone formation and represents different stages in the development of life in the Sierra de los Órganos region. Guests have time to observe the mural, learn about its background and take photographs before continuing the journey.
8Return to HavanaYour hotel in HavanaAfter completing the Viñales experience, the group begins the return journey to Havana, and guests are returned to their hotel or designated drop-off location. Return time may vary depending on traffic, group movement and local operating conditions.
